The University of Minnesota’s Biomedical Discovery District (BDD) sits adjacent to the TCF stadium on its Minneapolis East Bank campus.

This Landscape for this project included a green roof on the Cancer and Cardiovascular Research and the walking/ bike trail in front of the four buildings that make up the BDD. The second/third story green roof and patio offered sitting areas for those who work in the building as well as being a beautiful green space and having environmental benefits such as reducing storm water run off.

The entrances, walkways and designated bike trails were all updated to be one matching landscape for the entire district. This included 60 trees and 3,000 shrubs/ perennials along with stone sculptures accenting the walk.

The landscape design ( by Damon Farber) was awarded the Award of Excellence by ASLA MN 2014 and Award of Excellence by Cast Stone Institute 2013.
