Company History

Incorporated in 1939, Margolis Company began as a retailer of plants and produce. Over the decades, our passion for horticulture and construction led us to focus on landscaping services. Today, after over 80 years in business we have developed into a commercial landscaping company offering a variety of services. We specialize in exceptional, technically challenging, commercial landscape construction.

Our commitment to quality has helped make us an industry leader in landscape installation. 

Meet Our Team
Jerry Romero

Owner, President 

Jerry combines his degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Wisconsin with over 33 years of experience at Margolis. Jerry currently serves as President, while also fulfilling duties as an estimator, project manager, and field safety manager.

Chad Buran 

Owner, Vice President

Chad is a Licensed Landscape Architect who graduated with a masters from the University of Minnesota. He has over 15 years of combined experience, both in the design phases and construction phases, with projects of all sizes. 

Blake Barnett

Operations Manager 

Blake has nearly 10 years of experience in the landscape industry, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors in Environmental Design. He now estimates and manages projects with a focus on scheduling and field operations.

Rick Friedlein

Payroll Manager

Rick, an avid outdoorsman, has over 30 years of experience with Margolis Company. He started with the company as a laborer and quickly moved up into a Estimator/ Project Manager position.  He has taken his skills and experience and is now applying them as office manager for the company. 

Donna Robling


Donna is the newest member of the Margolis team. She has been a purchaser since '92  with experience in both commercial and residential projects. Combining her experience, MNLA Certified Nursery Professional, Horticulture Degree from the University if Minnesota she sources high quality plant material and is a great resource for caring for those plants into the future. 

Amber Romero

Admin & Finance Manager

Amber has previously held positions as a crew member and nursery laborer. Today she assists Project Managers with project management, technology administrator,  various office administration tasks and is the Lead Safety Officer.

Our Crews

Foremen and Crew Members

Our crew members belong to either the Local 563 Laborers Union or the Local 49ers Operators Union. We are proud to say our Foremen have an average of 14 years experience at Margolis Company and our crew members have an average of 7 years experience
